AMELIA M. (BENDINSKAS) VAITKUNAS ATHOL-Amelia M. (Bendinskas) Vaitkunas, 82, of 93 Jones Street, died Friday at home, following an illness. Her husband of 31 years, Joseph Vaitkunas, died in 1971. She leaves a son, John J. Vaitkunas and his wife Jane of Bow, NH; a daughter, Patricia A. Wilson, and her husband Edward of Manlius, NY; four grandchildren, Saunders Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Samantha Vaitkunas and Katrina Vaitkunas. She is predeceased by three sisters: Dorothy Wragge, Adella Parsons, and Lucille Bukowski. She was born in Athol, March 27, 1920, a daughter of Joseph and Anna (Ludzus) Bendinskas, and had lived in the same house all of her life. She attended Athol schools. Mrs. Vaitkunas was employed at the L. S. Starrett Company for 19 years, retiring in 1981 as ana assemble in the indicator department. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and its Women's Guild, the Athol Golden Agers and the AARP. She enjoyed doing oil paintings, and she traveled extensively in Europe and Asia. The funeral will be held Monday, April 8, 2002 from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 105 Main Street. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund, 105 Main Street, Athol, 01331; or to Athol Memorial Hospital, 2033 Main Street, Athol, MA 01331. $(document).ready(function(){ });
