Agnes Hamilton Piscopo

June 12, 1926 — July 8, 2025

Warwick

Agnes H. Piscopo went to be with the Lord peacefully and comfortably at home on Tuesday July 8, 2025. Born in Englewood, New Jersey to William and Catherine Thomson, Agnes spent her childhood and early adult years on Staten Island NY. She married John “Johnny” Piscopo in 1949. The couple moved to the Newfield/Ithaca NY area (an area they visited on their honeymoon and hoped to return), where they raised their daughters and spent nearly five decades. She and Johnny then relocated to be closer to their daughter, Lois, and family in Loudonville NY. Shortly after John’s passing, Agnes relocated to Northfield and then Warwick Ma to be near her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Agnes earned an RN degree from Wagner College and later a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Cortland. She began her career in hospital nursing and then went on to serve as a school nurse-teacher at Newfield Central School for 25 years.

A woman of faith, Agnes was a faithful and active member of Newfield Baptist Church in Newfield for nearly 50 years. She then worshiped at Saratoga Chapel in Balston Lake NY and in her later years found her church home at Community Bible Church in Northfield Ma. She found joy in singing in her church choirs and was known for her hospitality, often welcoming others into her home. She loved getting to know people and her quick wit and sense of humor often shone through her many interactions. Agnes and her husband travelled to all 50 states in addition to other destinations around the world. In her retirement she enjoyed volunteering and keeping active in her community. She even participated in fitness groups, card games, and more until the last few years of her life.

Agnes is survived by her youngest brother, Thomas Clifford Thomson of Colorado; her daughter Lois (David) Wells; grandchildren Benjamin (Laura) Wells-Tolley and Johanna Wells; and her beloved great grandchildren. She spent her final years in Warwick Ma, surrounded by her family, enjoying regular family meals and time spent together. In addition to her immediate family, she will be missed by many who loved and respected her, including those who were like family, extended relatives, and countless others in the community. Her legacy of faith, service, love, deep connection to family, and laughter will be remembered by the lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John J. Piscopo; her daughter, Leslie; her brother, John and his wife Nancy; and her brother, William.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm at Community Bible Church on Main St in Northfield, Ma on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Mack Family Funeral Homes, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA is assisting with Agnes' services.
