Ronald Roy

August 29, 1941 — November 19, 2018

Ronald Roy, 77 passed away at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home on Monday, November 19, 2018 after an illness, with his family by his side. Ron was the only child of Donat and Irene (Lussier) Roy and grew up in Otter River, graduating from Narragansett Regional High School. While attending Gansett, he met the woman who would be the love of his life. On September 4, 1961, Ron married his “sweetheart” Marguerite Dymek, thus beginning a love story that would never diminish. Their marriage and total adoration for each other was the epitome of what true love really is. Even after all the years together, they still looked at each other as if they were newlyweds. Ron was a sociable, fun loving guy who was always quick to share a joke or a smile. He was the kind of man who would pitch in wherever and whenever he was needed without question, and he loved being around people. Ron was happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He loved Sunday afternoon get-togethers to play cards or dominos. Christmas mornings were always extra-special for him as he relished preparing the big breakfast he was infamous for, or coming up with some new crazy game for the family to play. He would “bah-humbug” everyone about it, but he absolutely loved the Christmas morning traditions, including everyone showing up at 5:00 a.m.! Ron was a meat cutter by trade, working in several local establishments over the years. He was a long-time member and past President of the Greater Gardner Jaycees, an American Red Cross Certified CPR Instructor, and a call Firefighter for the city of Gardner for several years, retiring in 1999. He served as a cook in the National Guard for six years, and later put those mad cooking skills to use when he opened up Roy’s Lunch in Union Square, which he owned and operated with the help of many family members for a number of years. He loved to dance, make trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, and spending time with his loved ones. Ron was pre-deceased by both of his parents. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Marguerite, his three children (or as he would often say “one of each”) Terry Mason and her husband Dan of Otter River, GFD Lieutenant Steve Roy and his wife Lorrraine of Gardner, and “daddys little girl” Julie Richard and her significant other Randy McDowell of Leominster. He is also survived by his only grandson, Jacob Roy of Gardner, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a lot of great friends. Per Ron’s request, there will be no services. His absence will leave a huge void in the lives of those who knew him and loved him, but none greater than the lives of his wife and family. “Woof-woof Dad-D-Dawg” – we miss you already.
