Rachel H. (Moreau) Teittinen, 96, died June 2, 2019 at Charlene Manor in Greenfield.
Rachel was the fifth daughter born to Joseph and Isabelle Moreau on January 20, 1923 in Gardner, MA. She attended local schools and graduated from Templeton High School in 1941. In 1944 she married her lifelong friend and neighbor Kolervo (Kully) Teittinen. They built a house in East Templeton on Orchard Lane, a.k.a. Pleasant Street which is the same street they grew up on. There they raised two children, Eric Teittinen of Londonderry, NH and Lynne Esworthy of Deerfield, MA.
Rachel had an abiding connection and commitment to her community and the people in it. She was always ready and happy to pitch in to help when and wherever it was needed. Rachel was an outstanding cook, accomplished seamstress, avid reader and a passionate card player. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor and friendliness.
With her husband Kully, Rachel enjoyed entertaining, boating, snowmobiling and traveling the country in their RV visiting family and friends.
Rachel’s husband of 64 years, Kolervo predeceased her in 2008. She is survived by Eric his wife Barbara and Lynne, four grandchildren Matti Teittinen, Casey, Dylan and Caitlin Esworthy and two great grandchildren, Daniel and Jane Teittinen and many loving nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother Phillip Moreau of Laconia NH.
Family and friends are kindly invited for a calling hour on Saturday, June 15th from 1:00 to 2:00 at the Mack Funeral Home on 105 Central Street in Gardner followed by a celebration of Rachel’s life at the Kamaloht Banquet Hall in East Templeton at 3:00.
