Norman M Fontaine

SHREWSBURY- Norman M. Fontaine, 83, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the Jewish Health Care Center in Worcester. Norm was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 2, 1935 to Beatrice (Gagne) Fontaine & Melville Fontaine. He attended Worcester Trade School and, upon graduation, became employed at Wyman & Gordon Company in Grafton as a machinist where he worked for over 45 years. Norm also proudly served in the National Guard. On September 1, 1958 Norm married the love of his life, Elva (Levesque) Fontaine. Last September they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Norm and Elva raised their family and made many wonderful friends in Shrewsbury. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting, raising pigeons and spending time with his beloved dogs and various other animals. Norm was an avid Red Sox fan and was thrilled to see his team win the World Series for his last baseball season. Above all else, Norm was a loving family man who was always gentle, yhoughtful and patient. He was an incredible storyteller and was the person the grandchildren and others would search out when they were in need of some peaceful and kind thoughts. Norm is survived by his wife of sixty years, Elva; his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Fontaine and his wife Michelle, Peter Fontaine and his wife Patricia, Mark Fontaine and his wife Kathleen; his sister, Theresa Hannus; his 7 grandchildren, Nicole Fontaine Dooley and her husband Justin, Danielle, Jeffrey, Benjamin, Sophia, Julia, and Emily Fontaine; and his great granddaughter, Grace Dooley. In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by his son, John Fontaine and brother, Bob Fontaine. There will be a Celebration of Life held for close family and friends on February 16, 2019 from 12 noon-4pm at the Leicester Country Club 1430 Main St. Leicester. Personal stories and remembrances of Norm will be welcomed.
