Leonard Joseph Marsh

July 5, 1924 — June 25, 2017

Gardner- Leonard “Skip” Marsh died at home Sunday, June 25, 2017. He was the son of Victor & Annie Desmarais and the husband for 49 years of the late Michaelina (Lapinskas) Marsh. He leaves three loving daughters; Susan May & her husband Bruce of Baltimore, MD, Mary E. Marsh of Gardner, with whom he lived, Diana Rotelli & her husband Richard of West Greenwich, RI; granddaughter, Heather Elmer & her husband Tom; great grandson Zachary. He is also survived by a grandson Matthew May of Baltimore, MD. Skip spent most of his life in Gardner and became one of the states youngest Eagle Scouts. He served in WWII with the Fighting 69th Infantry in the Battle of the Bulge and later in the Korean War. He received the Bronze Star. He was a graduate of Bryant College with a degree in accounting and worked at Simplex Time Recorder Company until his retirement. Skip was a trophy winning archer and a member of the Fish and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many brother-in laws and enjoyed time with his many nieces and nephews. Skip & Mickey planned and developed 5 acres of formal gardens at their lifelong home. They traveled to exotic islands and were never apart. Skip was a go-to guy who could fix anything and solve any dilemma. His sense of humor never failed and he was often surrounded by grand puppies and kitties, not to mention the many chipmunks at the feeder. Skip was a deeply religious man who drove others to church and attended every day. He was a member of Annunciation Parish where he was a lector and member of the pro-life Committee. Skip will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Calling hours will be held Thursday June 29, 2017 from 5-7pm at Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks, a Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St. Gardner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June 30, 2017 at 11AM at Holy Rosary Church135 Nichols St. Gardner. Burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery Gardner.
