Gertrude E. Reida

GARDNER- Gertrude E. (Reinikainen) Reida, 94, of Gardner, died February 2, at Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born March 17, 1923, in Gardner, daughter of the late Etu and Emma (Kauppinen) Reinikainen. She worked as a stitching supervisor for the former Kelly Brothers. Her true passion was breeding and training dogs. Gertrude belonged to many clubs including Australian Terrier Club of America, Concord Dog Training Club, New England Terrier Board Member, past recording secretary, board member, and president of the Scottish Terrier Club of New England, past Vice President of the West Highland White Terrier Club, Wachusett Kennel Club. She was also a breeder of Champion Australian Terrier, Scottish Terriers, and West Highland Terriers. She was very proud that one of her Aussie’s was the #3 Aussie in the country for three years. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Eino A. Reida, her daughter, Karen Davis, her brother, Ray Reinikainen, two sisters, Eva Graves and Toini Siipola, and a nephew, Kenny Graves. She leaves a granddaughter; three nieces, Theresa Arsenault, Priscilla Roy, Diane Grophear; and several great nieces and great nephews. The funeral will be held Friday, February 9, at 10:00 A.M. at Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks Funeral Home, a Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
