Frances N. "Minnie" Horrigan

GARDNER - Frances N. “Minnie” Horrigan, 90 of Gardner, died Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Broadview Assisted Living in Winchendon. She was born in Gardner, on April 3, 1929, the daughter of the late Carlo and the late Lucia (Vinzi) Lore. Minnie grew up in Gardner one of 11 children, and attended Gardner High School. She worked with her husband and family at Horrigan Cleaners for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church; a member of Heywood Hospital Aide Association, served as a Brownie leader, and volunteered at Levi Heywood Memorial Library. She participated in Silver Sneakers at the Fitness Center at Mount Wachusett Community College for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spent many summers at the Park at Hampton Beach with her family. Over the years Minnie had many interests and hobbies including drawing, dancing, gardening, cooking, baking, reading, quilting, and shopping, and she was the family Scrabble champ. Minnie loved entertaining, hosting family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her contemporary sense of style was reflected in her personal appearance and her home. She leaves three daughters, Colleen Gikis and her husband George of Gardner, Maureen Horrigan of Gardner, Tracy Horrigan and her spouse Laura Barnes of Braintree, and three sons, Michael Horrigan and his wife Anne of Gardner, Timothy Horrigan and his wife Maxine of Gardner, and Patrick Horrigan and his wife Melinda of Westminster; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Michael Lore of Gardner; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas J. “Skip” Horrigan who passed in 2006. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Annunciation Parish, Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street in Gardner. A private burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon will take place at a later date. Calling hours will be held Friday, September 27, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440 or the Gardner Community Action Committee, 294 Pleasant Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
