David Napoleon St. Cyr

ASHBURNHAM- David Napoleon St. Cyr, 93, of Ashburnham, died Monday, March 4, in Heywood Hospital after a short illness. David was born April 19, 1925, son of the late Joseph Arthur and the late Louisa (Gammell) St. Cyr and lived in Ashburnham all his life. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII with the 987th Field Artillery Battalion. He landed the morning of June 6, 1944 at King Green Beach in the British Gold Beach sector, Normandy, served in the Battle of the Bulge and other campaigns which earned him the Good Conduct Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. Mr. St. Cyr was a postal clerk at the Ashburnham Post Office for many years before his retirement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed serving with the Ninth Massachusetts Battery, Army of the Potomac Civil War Reenactment. His wife, Lucille V. (Fox) St. Cyr, died in 2016. He was also predeceased by his son, Jeffrey A. St. Cyr, and four sisters, Irene, Dorothy, Stella, and Florence. He leaves two sons, David R. St. Cyr and his wife, Kathleen Rowe of Ashburnham, and Larry S. Saint Cyr and his wife, C. Gayle Phillips of Brockton; three grandchildren, Sean J. D. St. Cyr and his wife, Laura of Bishopville, SC, Steven W. Saint Cyr and his significant other, Ali Parker of Amesbury, and Joshua L. St. Cyr and his significant other, Rachael B. Hornsby of Ashburnham; five great grandchildren, Sean James David, Ryan, Ashley, Sean Patrick, and Elizabeth St. Cyr; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Stevens Memorial Library, 20 Memorial Drive, Ashburnham, MA 01430.
