Gardner- Bessie " Betty" Swain Jablonka Hadukiewicz of Gardner passed away May 18,2017 at The Highlands. Betty was born in Gary, Indiana on June 8, 1924. The daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (Schwartz) Swain. She moved to Massachusetts in 1932. Betty was the 1st Girl Scout in Templeton to earn the Gold Curved Badge which was the highest honor to earn. She graduated from Templeton High School in 1943 and then enlisted in Army Air Corp in 1944. She was stationed at the Wright Field in Daytona, Ohio until 1946. She received the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and the American Service Medal. Betty worked many jobs from waitressing,stitching, and decorating furniture. At one time Betty was the owner of Tiny Town Grill in Baldwinville, MA. Betty also worked the polls for 25 years, Rich's Department Store for 15 years, was a charter member at the American Legion, Past President, twice, of the Gardner Emblem Club, and past President of the Polish American social League. She was predeceased by her husbands, Bruno "Shots" Hadukiewcz and John Jablonka, and her only son, Donald Jablonka. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on May 23, 2017 at 11AM at Wildwood Cemetery, West St. Gardner.
