Bernadette Lemoine

The Sisters of the Assumption mourn the loss of Sr. Bernadette Lemoine, 99, formerly known as Sr. Bernadette-du-Sacre'-Coeur, who passed away at Marie Esther Health Center in Marlboro, MA on Monday, October 15, 2018. She was born in Grafton, Massachusetts, the daughter of Honora (Desorcy) Lemoine and Hormidas Lemoine. She was the youngest child in a family of six children. Sr. Bernadette entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Assumption on January 27, 1939. Following her profession on August 16, 1941 she served in the ministry of education in parochial schools, as a teacher, principal and librarian in Salem, Lowell, Northbridge, Millbury, Indian Orchard, Southbridge MA, Meriden, CT and Glens Falls, NY for over fifty years. Sr. Bernadette also did prison ministry in Billerica, MA and parish work in Brattleboro, VT. She performed community services in Petersham, MA and at the residence of the Sisters of St. Chre'tienne in Marlboro, MA. For the past three years she resided at the Marie Esther Health Center in Marlboro, MA. Sr. Bernadette is survived by many nieces ad nephews, the Sisters of the Assumption worldwide, the Sisters of St. Chre'tienne and Sisters of St. Anne and Staff in Marlboro, MA. The wake will be on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 9:00am to 10:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Sisters of St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlboro, MA. Sr. Bernadette will be buried in the East St. Cemetery, Petersham, MA. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund 207 Pleasant St. Marlboro, MA 01752.
