PHILLIPSTON - Arnold R. Haley, Age 92, of Phillipston died December 6, 2016 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol.
He was born in Phillipston, the son of Stanley Eaton Haley and Bessie Justina (Clark) Haley
Arnold attended the Phillipston No. 3 School which was a one room school house. He was a licensed electrician and steam engineer at S. Bent and Bros. in Gardner. He was a member of the Phillipston Congregational Church. He served on the executive committee and fixed anything that needed fixing. He especially enjoyed keeping the bell ringing.
He enjoyed collecting antique engines and displaying them at shows from Orange MA to Owls Head Maine. He loved the beauty of flowers and nature. Arnold wrote poetry and wrote many poems to his dear wife, Edna.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Arnold served on Attu which is one of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska during WWII. February 1944 – January 1946.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Edna Joyce (Henshaw) Haley; children, Peter and his wife JoAnn, Paula and her friend Tom, Gregory and his wife Martha, Leonard and his wife Monique, Arnold Jr. and his wife Lisa, Justin and his wife Sherrie, Timothy and his wife Sylvia, Jennifer Dieuveuil and her husband Harry; 21 Grandchildren and 22 Great-Grandchildren
He was predeceased by his brother Henry Eaton Haley.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Phillipston Congregational Church, 60 The Common, Phillipston. Burial will be private at a later date.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 1 - 4 p.m. in the Lamoueux-Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner.
