Celia Giron

September 24, 1949 — December 29, 2016

Celia P. Giron Celia P. Giron beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend and sister passed away peacefully on December 29, 2016 in Leominster, MA. She was born on September 24, 1949 in Santa Cruz Laguna, Philippines to Ricardo and Felisa (Ching) Pecana. Celia graduated from University of Santo Tomas. She married her husband Gregorio on November 24, 1977 and they were blessed with three children Paul Michael, Catherine Marie, and Maria Monique. Celia was a natural leader in business, church, and her neighborhood. She owned her own business, was president of the village home owners association, assisted the election administration, sat on her local parish committee and did many hours of community volunteer work. In 2004, she and her family made the decision to begin a new life in the United States in Olathe, KS. She began work with Walmart whom she worked for 11 years. Celia showed respect, loyalty, understanding and compassion to all who she came into contact with. Many neighborhood children remember growing up with Tita Celia as the ring leader of various parties, activities and adventures. Her coworkers remember her as a caring and respected leader who did not ask anything of another person which she would not do herself. At her most recent Walmart store, she was known as “our angel.” There are untold number of people whom she would slip some money to in order to help them through a tough time and eventually reach their full potential. Celia’s greatest love was her family. Her ideal day would be having all of her children and grand-children spending the day talking, playing and eating all of the wonderful food she cooked. Her greatest pride and joy were her grand-daughters Gabrielle, Riley and Aislynn. Celia was preceded in death by her parents Ricardo and Felisa (Ching) Pecana, sisters Elvira Pecana and Mila Pecana. She is survived by her husband of 39 years Gregorio Giron; her children Paul Michael Giron and his significant other Maica Lacson, Catherine Marie Giron and her partner Shae McFadden, and Maria Monique Drew and her husband Barry Drew; her three grand-daughters Denise Gabrielle, Riley Alexis and Aislynn Brielle; her sisters Theresita C. Pecana, Elsa C. Pecana, Estrelita Pamatmat, Aida Estanislao, Myrna Pecana and brother Manuel C. Pecana M.D. and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 6, at Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union Street, Leominster, at 2:00PM.
