Avis L. Wessell

Avis Louise Wessell, age 93, of Orange died Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare of Athol. Mrs. Wessell was born September 28, 1922 in Athol. She is the daughter of the late Raymond H and the late Hazel (Allen) Watson. Avis grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol High School. She worked for the Athol School system as a cafeteria worker, then as the cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Quabbin Snowmen. She enjoyed painting lessons with Shirley Castine, summers at the camp on White Pond. She dearly loved time at camp and spent many years trailer camping. She enjoyed trips to Maine, especially the beach at Ogunquit. She is survived by; two daughters: Sharon King of Athol and Laurel Howard of Orange; one granddaughter: Lisa Howard; two great granddaughters: Samantha and Serenity Howard of Orange; and two nieces: Carole Cartnick of New Hampshire and Linda Keeffe of Maine. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years: Albert Wessell; by her sister Aaria Corkum. Services will be private. To leave an online condolence please visit www.mackfamilyfh.com.
